Calvin began boxing aged seven at Doon Valley Boxing Club in Dalmellington. His older brother had started boxing and Calvin was inspired to follow in his elder sibling’s footsteps. 

From the moment he stepped into the ring, Calvin knew he loved the sport. It was also clear to anyone who saw him that he was one of Scotland’s most promising fighters.

Calvin had 110 amateur fights and won around 70 of them. He fought in five British Championships winning silver medals in each tournament and won a bronze medal in the International Tammer Tournament in Finland.

In 2017, after an impressive amateur career, Calvin turned professional signing with Kynoch Boxing Promotions and Management. Since then, he has remained undefeated in all six of his fights and won the Scottish Lightweight title in April 2019.
